The story of the model

The Sardinian braid, carved in horn.

The Torciglione is the maison’s technically most complex patent. The handle, entirely hand-carved, takes up the motif of the traditional Sardinian weave.

The weave has deep roots in Sardinian culture: it appears in the fabrics of the traditional costume, in baskets, and again in the sweets and the bread. It is an ancient form Sardinia has handed down for centuries.

A folder with a 12 or 16 cm blade — a single Torciglione takes weeks of work for the handle alone. The blade is in AISI 420C or Damascus, the ring in silver or gold filigree, the handle in horn or ivory. Every example is a unique piece: the weave is never exactly the same between two knives.

The most exclusive among the exclusives.

Common questions

About this piece

How is a Giagu Torciglione commissioned?
Every Torciglione begins with a conversation. You write to the Giagu workshop describing the materials, the dimensions and the occasion, and the maison guides you through the configurations available. Lead time is six to twelve months from confirmation. Every finished piece comes with a paper certificate signed by the family.
Is the Torciglione a numbered piece?
Every Giagu Torciglione is engraved with the mouflon mark and the words GIAGU PATTADA. Each order carries its own number, identifying it in the maison's internal archive from 1985 onward. The mark, for its part, stays with the piece forever.
What is the warranty on the Torciglione?
Every Giagu Torciglione is guaranteed for ten years from the date of delivery. Sharpening is free for the lifetime of the knife, at the Pattada workshop or by post.
