The story of the model

The symbol animal of Sardinia, in the form of a blade.

The Muflone is one of the seven patents the Giagu workshop registered in Rome in 1991. A dagger, blade 20 cm, double-ground with a false edge along the spine. The handle carries a worked guard that recreates the head of the Sardinian mouflon.

The choice of the mouflon as the symbol animal is no accident. The mouflon is endemic to the Sardinian mountains — free, and elusive. Free, too, is the choice of materials for each piece: every example is unique and unrepeatable, the material combinations never the same twice. The certificate that accompanies it vouches for its authenticity, its originality, and the model’s progressive number.

The Muflone today belongs to international private collections, and is one of the most iconic of the seven 1991 patents.

Common questions

About this piece

How is a Giagu Muflone commissioned?
Every Muflone begins with a conversation. You write to the Giagu workshop describing the materials, the dimensions and the occasion, and the maison guides you through the configurations available. Lead time is six to twelve months from confirmation. Every finished piece comes with a paper certificate signed by the family.
Is the Muflone a numbered piece?
Every Giagu Muflone is engraved with the mouflon mark and the words GIAGU PATTADA. Each order carries its own number, identifying it in the maison's internal archive from 1985 onward. The mark, for its part, stays with the piece forever.
What is the warranty on the Muflone?
Every Giagu Muflone is guaranteed for ten years from the date of delivery. Sharpening is free for the lifetime of the knife, at the Pattada workshop or by post.
