The Family

ONE FAMILY,
IRON AND FIRE
from one generation to the next.

In Pattada, Salvatore and Maria Rosaria founded the workshop in 1985 — the first to devote themselves to the knife alone, where until then it had been made alongside other tools in the blacksmiths' shops. Today the second generation carries the craft forward in the same spirit. Every piece bears the GIAGU mark and the mouflon stamp. An Italian story, a Sardinian signature.

The Workshop

Come to Pattada.
We are waiting for you on Via Vittorio Emanuele.

The building at Via Vittorio Emanuele 52A has carried the Giagu Deroma name since 1901. Today it is home to our workshop, open every day. You can step into the laboratory, speak with a member of the Giagu family, and choose the materials for your commission. Under the same roof is the Museo Culter — the first and only international knife museum in Italy.

The Craft · Raw materials

Three elements,
one knife.

Every Giagu knife comes from the meeting of three elements: the blade, the handle, the ornament. Endlessly combinable, each chosen one by one with the client.

I · The Blade

Steel

From the AISI 420C of everyday use to the stainless Damascus of the collector pieces. The steel is brought to 1150°C and tempered at the forge.

  • Stainless steel (various options)
  • Forged carbon steel
  • Stainless Damascus
II · The Handle

Horn & Woods

Ram horn — from pale to dark, through countless veins — remains the historic choice across every model. We also work mouflon horn, fossil ivory and mother-of-pearl, and for fixed blades, prized Sardinian and exotic woods.

  • Ram horn
  • Mouflon horn
  • Fossil ivory
  • Mother-of-pearl · Olive wood · Juniper · Ebony
III · The Ring

Precious metals

The metal sets the tone of the knife, and each client chooses their own. Brass, silver, gold and Sardinian filigree — every one tells a different story.

Giagu Design — i materiali nobili della maison

Giagu Design

The language of the workshop,
in jewellery.

Aurelia Giagu turns the materials of the knife into jewellery. Horn, silver, mother-of-pearl, coral and more — the very materials of the workshop — she shapes into rings, necklaces and pendants. A parallel language that carries the family signature beyond the blade.

They chose Giagu

The collaborations.

Five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, international museums, trade magazines. The people and places that chose a Giagu knife for their table, their stage, their story.

"A Giagu knife is not bought. It is commissioned. And every commission is an encounter. The knife takes shape before it even exists."
